So Here I Am Just Loading Away...

...on the progressive when I get a .40 case that doesn't want to resize. After readjusting the case it still won't size so I take it out and throw it in the scrap pile like I have done before. Next case same thing. Uh oh. Something is wrong. Let's take a closer look...

Looks like a .32 case and it isn't going ANYWHERE! Luckily with the Dillon dies it screwed out the top no problem. Yep- .32 and it is WELL seated on the .40 expander ball.

I took a file and managed to get it off. Minor damage to the expander ball but not enough to replace.

Had it happen once before loading .45 on the 550. That time it was a 9mm stuck in a .45 case.

Wow! Now that case neck might be a little over flared!

Sometimes it's amazing how elastic brass can be.

I've had new Starline brass stick to the expander tight enough to pull the case in half, leaving the top half of a .38 Special case firmly stuck. I used a Dremel Tool with a cutting disc and carefully cut a groove through the side of the stuck case lengthwise, being careful not to go all the way through the brass. There was a couple thousandths of brass at the bottom of the groove I cut, and it was enough to release the pressure on the expander without damaging it.

    Hope this helps.

Yup! Found myself in the same situation and the same solution with a piece of 300 BO brass I managed to form around the expander.
