    WTS - Glenfield 30GT, rebarreled to 44-40

1980 Glenfield 30GT that has been rebarrel with a 1894 20" 44-40 barrel. Barrel is of modern manufacture and will handle 44 mag equivalent loads. Groove diameter requires a 0.429" bullet, standard 44-40 bullets yield dismal accuracy. Note, if you plan to shoot bullets larger than 0.429" you may need to neck turn the brass. I have shot less than 2 moa at 100 yards using shooting sticks. Load was 240 JHP over h110.

I made zero modifications to the carrier, loading gate or breech bolt. It cycles with modifications, likes to be cycled fast. I think adding a cartridge stop to the carrier and polishing the chamber would improve slow cycling of the rifle. Capacity is 7 or 8 in the Mag tube.

Blue is in overall nice shape with a few small nicks on the receiver and the barrel near the muzzle. The birch stock set has no cracks but small handling marks hear and there. Finish is abit darker than other glenfields so maybe refinished, not sure.

There are no sights, rings or scope included but I will leave the rail on the gun.

This rifle is deer legal in Indiana and I think Michigan as well.

Ships from a private to your FFL. $535 shipped to your FFL. First posted I'll take it rules, followed by a PM. Payment by USPS MO. Will need payment and signed copy of the ffl license before shipping.

will include 90+ pieces of 2x fired starline brass and a used set of dies, pacific I think and Lee FCD. Also included is the original 18" 30-30 barrel.

Don't know about YOUR particular rifle, but I have one of the Marlin 1894S rifles from the 1993 run, and have also used one of the leftover 1894S .44-40 barrels from Numrich to rebarrel another rifle. Both barrels have .44-40 chambers with neck diameters around .447-.448", which are fully adequate to load .431" diameter cast bullets which are correct to shoot well in these MicroGroove barrels.

I seriously doubt that anyone would need to neck turn brass to load bullets which fit. I am using Starline brass in both of my rifles and Accurate 43-230G bullets sized .431" and accuracy is stellar. You asking price is VERY fair that is an especially good deal with the brass, dies and original barrel. Just trying to help you out, I already have two of these...

    OP75,

Thanks for your input regarding the cast boolit diameters. I mentioned the neck because 0.429" bullet is the largest I have loaded.
