I'd be glad to see that. There hasn't been scrap lead available here for years now. All scrap yards have signs that say "No sales to the public".

Always saddens me to see someone taking lead to a scrap dealer. That means it is usually no longer available for cast bullets or even sinkers. 50 pounds at that price could have made a new caster pretty happy.
Picked up 13 lb of linotype from a recycling co. yesterday for $0.50/lb.. They had maby 200 lb of lead waste pipe in the bin. I still have over 500 lb of soft lead from a demolished hospital so I didn't buy any of it.

Thats a great price on the linotype, even if its depleted some. Hearing about rising prices makes me glad to have just purchased 20 bucket of weights!
I haven't been by the scrapyard in a while. Sorted some WW's, got some lead wire, sheet and flashing boots. Totaled 118lbs. $20. Usually pay $.25/lb. Missed out on some x-ray shielding bricks and tractor counterweights.

I'm going to the scrap yard Saturday morning to sell 500 lbs of range brass. Last time I was there they said they would sell me wheel weights for $50/lb. I'll take a look to see if they are already sorted. If it is I may be buying a couple hundred pounds.
Not too long ago I called all of the local scrap yards I could locate to ask if they were selling lead to the public. All of them said "no". I also asked what they were paying for lead and the usual offer was 20 cents per pound. Sounds kinda cheap. Wish I could buy lead for that number.
None of them around here will sell to the public either. They won't even let you walk around and look! I agree, selling lead to the scrap dealer seems like a shame, but I've done it a few times. Mine was always a problem or contaminated alloy.
I just called my local scrap yard early this week. They still sell lead for $.85 a lb and wheel weights for $.65 a lb. I think they buy lead for
$.45 a lb.

Beats my local yard. $0.85 to buy from them, $0.08 to sell to them
