5.3 quake in Soda Spring about 6:00 pm today

Hey runfiverun, you still with us and alright, and only had to pick up the things that fell of the shelves in the reloading room. If there are other members up there in that area, hope you are alright also.

    we are okay.

we have had about 50 different tremors, 2 quakes in the 5-6 area and a few 4's.
with a bunch of 2's to keep us on our Toes.
stuff keeps getting knocked down and the house keeps moving further west.
I'm gonna wait to straighten the pictures up for another day or two.

there have been 3 different places that the quakes are coming from, the closest one is the mountain I see out my living room window.
it used to be a volcano.
the fault line from here runs directly to Yellowstone and the hot pots/pools/geysers surrounding us are part of the Yellowstone chain. [except the Co-2 geyser]

anybody wondering where soda is, just look at a map.
go @50 miles up from Utah and @50 miles in from Wyoming the little X or T or whatever will pretty much be right on top of us.
or just look for the big blue circle [Bear Lake] up in the right hand corner of Utah and go directly north of that about 35 miles.

this is actually a swarm of quakes this report is from Sunday.
we should be over 70 separate events now.

There were 25 quakes on Wednesday, 20 on Tuesday, 28 on Monday, 34 throughout the day on Sunday and 34 on Saturday night. All 141 of the quakes were reported by University of Utah Seismograph Stations.

Or if you have fracking companies pumping their waste water back into the ground.

there is no Fracking going on anywhere in Idaho.

we around 200 at this point.
the last few have been 4.5 or so.
we had one Sunday morning at about 3:45 am that woke us all up [it lasted long enough] then another one later that morning to make sure we stayed up.

We had a 5.8 quake centered 50 miles from here around the 4th of July(6th?), woke me up from a dead sleep about 12;30 am about ten minutes later the second wave came through. Mother nature sending a warning of things to come, she must have been dreaming about forest fires!

    she ain't dreaming too hard.

I seen smoke coming off the mountain to the south of my place on my way home from fishing this morning.
if the wind stays from the south it'll be a good thing.
that area was just partially clear cut and a good fire would really help clean up the extra junk they left behind.
if it comes up from the west or north it will cause some evacuations later tonight or tomorrow.

We've been living in a smoke out since mid July, over 1 million acres burned, they've dumped a quarter million gallons of retardant on one fire just south of Waksupi land, think it went from 55k acres to 101k acres last Saturday night. We need snow and lots of it now!

Nice long rainstorm finally hit Montana today. Nice and slow, temps in the 40's and going to last for a couple of days. Whoo-Hooo!

    it come through here too.
I was up grouse hunting when it settled in.
I decided to drop down the other side of the mountain instead of just coming back home because I could see how hard it was raining in that direction.
    big mistake.

the snow just trashed the top last winter and washed most of the road out when it melted this spring.
they were coming up from the other side fixing the real bad spots and hadn't got anywhere near the top yet.
they had replaced 4 spots in the lower road and the corrugated pipe that runs underneath it.
you could see where they had completely washed out from the snow melt run-off.

I had to stop and pull a couple of downed trees parallel to the road so I could get by.
then I got high centered in one spot where the road had washed out and had to get myself out of that mess.
it took about 3 hours to go the 8 miles down to the bottom where they had fixed the road.

I'm gonna have to register the 4 wheeler for the deer hunt this year.
I'm gonna check some of the other canyon roads tomorrow if it's not raining too bad.
