Gas checks stuck in loaded cases

Got some gas check stuck in charged rifle cases 223 & 32 WS, pulled the bullets and the checks remained.

Is there a safe way to remove them?

I was thinking about shooting them out and running a dowel down the tube after each shot to check for possible obstructions in the barrel.

Wish I had derringers in these calibers

Push down on one side with a punch or a nail. They will usually flip sideways. Pull them out with tweezers or needle nose pliers. I had to do this on a bunch of 357 Max.

Hemostats work nice. Once you clamp on to one, you don't lose it.

I've shot a couple out; I do NOT recommend it!

I've done a few and I agree with noangel. Mosquito sized forceps work perfect. Small pin, piece of wire, or the shaft from a blowgun dart to tip it sideways. Then gently reach in and grab with forceps. Done deal.

Mostly I have gotten to where I really dislike pulling loads that have gas checked bullets in them.

The last few times I have had to do this, I got a very small drill bit, carefully drilled a hole through the check and screwed a drywall screw into it, then used it to pull the check out.

Yep. If at all possible, always better to shoot it up and not make the same mistake next time.

The real easy way is to squash the case a little and they fall right out

Needle-nose pliers - push on gas check. It will go crooked or drop into powder. Grab check with pliers - pull out. Do it over a container to catch powder or dump powder first.

    SUCCESS;

I used t small punch to turn the stuck gas check then a pair of pointed tweezers stuck in as far as they would go.
For the 32 WS, I could use larger tweezers. I thought the tweezers would be too weak but they worked great. If the tweezers hadn't been strong enough I'd have dug out my Hemostats

    Thanks all for the suggestions

    Jim

Why are you pulling boolits from ammo that you loaded? I don't load my ammo too hot so I shoot it to get rid of boolits.

Progressive press ran out of or quit feeding primers (hard to shoot without primers and unknown amount of powder loss prevented re-primering)
powder measure hiccuped on a couple loads and I wanted to cover my bases ( I already had a couple bolts stacked up in a barrel and didn't want to have the "fun" again

Rarely, very rarely do I pull gas checked bullets but when I have and the check stayed in the neck I just shot them out then checked the bore to make certain they passed through. Never had one stick or stay in the bore.
