A few years ago I bought a quite a bit of type metal from a place that was going out of business. It has sat in a dusty corner until I ran across it again the other day. It was bottled up in screw top plastic jars. It was labeled as Linotype and Type Metal.
I melted 3 jars of the Lino into my casting pot and cast it into billets as shown in the picture below. I then sent two sample to BNE for XRF analysis. The stuff did look like typical linotype with spacers, etc. The results are:
Lead 78%
Antimony 17.5%
Tin 4.2%
Copper .3%
I have two boxes of 14# each ready to ship in a small flat rate box. Cost is $35 per box, delivered. Prefer paypal via the friends and family mode, check or money order is fine as well with checks requiring 5 days to clear.
Thanks for looking.
