How many are you looking for?

Hopefully you can find some on here, but if not NE Reloading has them.

They're not cheap, but they never have been. LOL.
Very useful for ?????
What makes them so expensive? Is it just availability?
Eldon . . deer who wear flak jackets? LOL
M2 AP with a hardened steel core has not been made for many years, and even the sporadic discoveries of lots (sold recently by the CMP) don't last long, corrosive or not.
Likewise, even the component bullets recovered from de-milled milsurp ammo are drying up.
True AP ammunition issued in theater to our troops for 7.62X51 and 5.56X45 NATO is supplied by a foreign contractor and as such can not be imported to the US. The SS109/M855/M856 LRDI ammo is considered as Enhanced Penetration and not AP. This is why we can buy it here.
I'm not sure about legalities in various jurisdictions, but there are a few single shot pistols also available in .30-06. M2 AP fired from a 15" T/C Encore will still penetrate a fair amount of mild steel plate.

Great info. Love this place! The part I quoted in bold really caught my attention...
I've always wanted to buy and load some of these projos in 308, but was under the impression it was prohibited because 308 had been classified as a pistol round at one time or another.

The M61 AP 7.62X51 from Lake City/Frankford Arsenal is fairly rare today, although I'm sure there are some in collections.
I do have an M948 S.L.A.P. round in my collection.
This is a great thread on the M61.

illegal where ? not in free states !
Win71, you have a couple of PMs.
Got-R-Did.
Gunbroker always has someone selling them. They go for $1 each.
Better watch what you buy. Local guy got ousted for sellers FMJ's with some very clean 'sharpie' work done.
After hearing about it, I tried one just to see. You can put a loaded round in a Lee lock stud and spin it, using a sharpie to black the tips. It looks convincing at a glance.
When dealing with islam one should always ask themselves: "What would Leonidas do?"
I just measured one of mine. The length is 1.38". Flat base. Copper disk in base. A lead-core bullet this long would usually be more like 200 grains. I think they would be difficult to counterfeit, as long as one could see them in person.
Pulled bullets yes. Loaded ammo, no. Not difficult at all.

I have over 500 of the AP's and 1200 tracers, pulled, the AP's I pulled from WWII AP ammo I purchased from the CMP, used the Hornady cam-lock collet puller that leaves no marks. These are the real deal, I cut the jacket apart on a couple with a tubing cutter to check out the core, them make for a nice but short prick punch. Not sure how many I'd want to part with, would depend on the price I guess, PM me with an offer and amount wanted. Rather part with tracers more then the AP, if I part with them I may not be able to find them at an affordable price if I ever want more again. It is fun to shoot through a 12 inch oak tree with em.
Be careful what you wish for!
