Need some 41 HB bullets until I can find a mould or bullets. Heard that Western in Mont have some service problems. Far as I can tell nobody else makes them. Thanks in advance. RSapp

NOE I believe has some HB WC molds for the 41. Check them out.
They have made them in the past, but they are not a stocking item.

I have one of these molds for my 1877 and .41 LC Bisley: https://oldwestbulletmoulds.com/t/hollow-base-moulds
I have not tried it in the Bisley, but worked fine in the 1877. Well made mold.
I have both the old Lyman HB mold and 2 Rapine HB molds for the 41 Colt. I THINK I may have some boolits cast up. How many are you looking for? I would also sell one of the Rapine molds. I can take pictures and post them if interested.

I have some of the old Lee HB Heeled boolits cast up. This was a custom mold back when they were making single cavity HP molds. They run about 200gr. They are LLA lubed.
If you are shooting a 41 Colt be aware that the HB boolits are .386 diameter to fit inside the case. They need to be cast very soft to expand. I have to trim my brass to fit these heeled boolits into the chamber.

Are you looking for HB for use in a .41 Special/Mag or for use in the .41 Colt?

My son makes a soft cast heeled base bullet for 41 colt. Lyman 386177 at about 195 grains. 1 1/2" group at 15 yards out of my bisley with 3.5 grains bullseye. .10 each and he can get 500 in one flat rate shipping box.

What kind of luck do you fella's have with heel base as apposed to hollow base. I'm shooting 1896 41 Colt New Army.
I've always used the Heel base sized to the throats.

RSapp, I am smkummer on the Coltforum as well. I have sold to 5 members over on that forum. If your not a member, register and ask the question over there. But to make a long story short, these will work best out of your gun as that was what it was originally designed to shoot. The only challenge is to get enough neck tension to hold the bullet. With black powder, as long as the bullet will hold in place without dropping when the cartridge is pointed down, you should be good. So far the best results with smokeless is with 3-3.5 grs. bullseye but a little more tension is needed with smokeless for consistent results. I responded to your PM.

http://harryo.sixshootercommunity.org/ For anyone contemplating getting their feet wet diving into the 41 Colt pool, this is a very good read.
smkummer--That is an exceptionally good read. I am just getting started with this 41 Colt stuff. Thanks for the PM. RSapp
Bernie Rowles at Old West Bullet Molds modifies a Lee die to make a crimp die for the heeled bullets. Well worth it. I use the heeled bullets exclusively.

Good Point Wayne! I forgot all about that, he makes them for all sorts of calibers and will custom make them for a very low price and they work very well. Adjustable shellholder and modified crimp die.
He also makes a pretty wide array of heeled bullet molds.
