Just a thought here, I know the hb design has to have softer lead. Would powder coating impact the advantages of a hbwc?

    Good morning,

By no means am I the gospel on powder coating but I do use it exclusively on my pistol stuff with very soft alloys and have no issues with it at all. The coat does not come off on softer alloys per All my experimenting.

If anyone knows more about this please feel free to chime in.

Thanks for the input, I know I use ww for all handgun but just wondering how it would impact bullet obturation since the hollow base is suppose to obturate better and use softer lead. Too hard and it will shred skirts?

An interesting question. I suspect that failure to obturate would be the main risk of too had an alloy. I do note that Berry's seems to sell plenty of plated HBWCs and from what I have experienced and read they use a quite hard alloy that would probably be a lot harder than WWs.

I've sort of decided that I will reserve my stash of Hornady swaged HBWCs for super powder puff loads and I mostly load and shoot DEWCs (cast from COWWs) over a somewhat stiffer load.

    Please change my order from:
    6) alamogunr AT charter DOT net - 8 Cav Aluminum Solid

    To:
2 Cavity HP: 95 euros including shipping, all pins, top punch and allen keys

Since I've already got the H&G #50 four cavity mold and get very good results, I thought I should try out the HB versions of Miha's mold. Unless I see a marked increase in accuracy I don't see the sense in getting another solid mold. Besides, someone has to order a 2 cavity.

    Thanks
