    WTS Lyman small block single cavity molds

    For sale an assortment of Lyman and Ideal small block single cavity molds. Actual shipping by SFRB, buy 2 or more and I will cover shipping. Payment by PP, check, or money order. First "I'll take" posted here has priority, please follow with a PM.

    1. 308244, Ideal, Nice shape, 90ish grain, plain base, rounds nose, $45SPF

    2. 225438, Ideal, Replacement sprue plate with small hole, alignment pins replaced, Nice mold, round nose/gas check, $25spf

    3. 457193, Lyman, 405 FN/plain base, Good shape. $35spf

    4. 40143, Lyman, 180gr, RNFP/plain base, Very good shape, $35SPF

    5. 457RB collar button, Lyman 457 round ball mold made into a collar button, very nicely done. Very good shape, $45SOLD

    6. 225415, Lyman, 55gr FP/gas check, very good shape, $35spf

    7. 358311, Lyman, 160gr RN/plain base, spot of rust in cavity, good shape otherwise, $25

    8. 358416, ideal, 158gr, RNFP, plain base, Nice cavity, tight, not the prettiest cosmetically, $25SPF

    Can you advise how the 10. 42498HP casts, as far as the diameter? Old notes I see on this one says that the bullets should sized to .428 for rifles and smaller for pistols. Curious if they drop larger than .428 to start with?

    Can you tell me where you found your information? I went to "Ol' Buffalo Bullet Mold Tables" and it is not listed. They go from 419 to 427. I sure would like to see what that bullet looks like.

    It is one I have hoarded, not used. Don't know on the diameter except some references to it dropping at 428 max on the internet. Not going to have ability to fire up the pot for a while.

    My understanding is post ww2 they were renumberred 42798 then 427098. This was a 44-40 bullet.

    1929 Ideal Catalog.

    At the time, the solid RN was the 42498, and the HP was called the 42499.
