First batch of Bens Red!

Well I made my first batch of Bens Red the other day! All I can say is everything went better tha I could have ever expected! I mixed the dextron, the stp, and the red & tacked together to loosen up the grease and make it easier to mix and heat up. Then added the rest of the ingredients as directed. By the time I was done, it looked so good I almost wasted to throw some whipped cream on it and eat it like cherry pie! I figured I'd better not cause know way it tasted as good as it looked. I can't Wait to try it out. I was just going to pan lube but, thanks to George, I now have a lube sizer! Maybe you guys could answer a question for me. How do most of you get it in a Lyman 45 lube sizer? Do you just heat it up and pour it in the sizer? Or have you made a mold to form sticks that fit in the sizer like store bought lubes? Witch way is the easiest? And before I forget. Thanks Ben for a great recipe!

In the past I mold into sticks but now I use low heat melt right into the sizer.

I just cool it in a shallow pan and use a knife to cut it into strips. I package up the strips in plastic bags (a few in each bag), and store them in the freezer. As needed I just take one or two out and shove them into my Lyman 450. Once in a while, I have put excess lube into a tin can, placed it on my wood stove for a few minutes, and then poured the liquid lube into the 450. Easy stuff to work with.

Load the lubrisizer with Ben's Red and make it as simple or as difficult as you want. It lubes the same. I made both hollow sticks and cut strips. Great either way!

I heat my lube and pour it into the lubesizer using the cut off top of a two liter pop bottle as a funnel, then just toss the funnel to keep it simple and eliminate clean up.

gonna make meself a batch up tomorrow (labour day gotta work ya know) and frost up some bodacious big fat 45-70 boolits (first time casting by the way) made with a mould from fellow member here sent me .gonna be the best labour day job ever!

I like making sticks for my star sizer. to me it just part of the thing we do and just to let everyone know I am having a auction in swappin and sellin for a kit that has 6 lube molds with 6 end caps a base to put the molds on while pouring the mold full of lube and a lube stick remover the molds can be solid or hollow this auction is for the flood victims in Texas anyway that is what I like to do D Crockett
