    Weird issue

So my first attempt at pc did not go well. I liked tray with non-stick foil, sprayed eastwood Kawasaki green powder from all 4 sides and baked at 400 for 20 min. When the boolits were done I took my welding glove over them to knock them off tray and the would move but the overspray at the bottom of the tray would hold them together. It was like rubber at first and swiping the boolits with a glove about took the pc off a couple of them. When it cooled it was very tough and I can't get the excess off the bottoms. Any I'd wee as on why they are not coming off the tray right? I did a second batch with less powder and it was the same.

My first thought is that you're coating WAY too heavy

Yep, looks like the same mess I had the first time I did it. Lots of tips and tricks on this site to get around that. It will get better.

spray them over there in a box and then put them on the paper tray to cook.

I tried to size one of my green ones and I ended up breaking my press of the work bench. I didn't have any sort under it but I think I might need to size before and after pc. Even sizing before was a pain.

Black boolits were light on the coating, but came off easier. My oven thermometer must have bit the dust because it kept saying temp was 325, I cranked the temp on the oven to 425 and within a minute the lead started to melt

Try a super light coat, just barely cover the lead. If they are too thin you can always apply another light coat.

Check the oven with 2 (to confirm the thermometers are accurate) oven thermometers (these cost apr. $3 ea.) set in the middle of the shelf you will bake on, adjust you ovens temperature setting until the thermometers read 400.

Almost all countertop ovens temperature settings are off due to the design.

You desperately need to peruse this thread and take note of what other PC'ers are doing...it's working for them, it'll work for you.

You can't spray like that and cook them in a soup of their own coating...you need an accurate thermometer too...just peruse the post and you will see the light on this.

Why I shake & bake; no flash & almost zero waist. Just the right amount of powder coating for easy sizing. I know guys that spray but it seems like actually more work than shake & bake. You still stand the bullets up, then the spray & mess, just doesn't seem better.

Those bullets looks like they're drowning. Less powder will make it easier to size also.

I finally did some more and had less issues. I did use less powder. I just don't like the bare spots I've seen with shake and bake method

Yeah that looks like way too much powder overspray, probably made the whole thing a giant mess. upside is, no lead lost, just melt it all down and skim off the junk. You might try transfering them to a clean sheet before baking and using less powder. I had sticking issues with tinfoil occasionally and use a cut down silicone mat for my tray liner now.

I heard someone blew off excess from in between. I have about 500 more bullets to experiment with to find what works best

Worth a try! I'd certainly give it a blast with an airhose or canned air in between the rows. Still might get a bit of base flashing but it is easily knocked off during sizing.

Turn down the pressure AND volume(little knob on the HF gun) to get a dusting spray from the gun. 15-20 psi from the compressor and then adjust the knob.
    Whatever!
