Blue dot in bottle neck

Many people have said that Blue dot will not work in bottle neck cases.
Any truth to this?????

I've tried it in a few, and never had a problem.
Not as accurate as 2400 and some other powders, but not that bad.

I have never used Blue dot in bottleneck brass, but I do use Herco which is only slightly faster burning.

I have lots of Red Dot so that is what I use. I have yet to find a caliber that I can not find an accurate load for with cast bullets and Red Dot. I do have a couple of barrels that I think have not fully broken in and settled down yet.

That's what I thought.
Lots of "old wives tails" out there.
People hear them and pass it along as fact.

There was a guy with the handle of Seafire over at Accurate Reloading who worked up a lot of loads using Blue Dot in bottlenecked rounds.
I don't think he ever had any problems but a number of other guys used his loads and blew up their rifles.

Anytime you use a powder you can easily double charge you have the risk of a low attention span reloader doing just that, And they will swear they didn't.

Any of the pistol powders can blow up a gun if you don't safe guard against double charges some how. I personally keep a small flashlight on my bench and look into EVERY case before seating a boolit, goes for pistols if using fast burners as well!
I've used BD for years in many reduced loads in boottle neck cartridges, but think it's a good idea to stay away from upper end pressures with them as well.
