Hard to find the thermocouple probe that I need for my PID build

I've been gathering all of the components to build my PID, and the probe has been my stumbling block. I'm looking for a K Type Thermocouple probe 100mm 0-800C, and they seem hard to find. I see shorter ones but want to be able to measure at the bottom of my Lee pot.

The following was recommended, and was only about $6 on Amazon, but it's no longer available. I can't find one like it anywhere else online either... it seems to be unavailable everywhere.

    uxcell Model US-SA-AJD-16139
    Part a13032000ux0369
    Type K 0-800C Probe length 100mm

What thermocouple probe have you been using on your casting pot / toaster oven, and where did you get it?

    Thanks in advance

There are usually a lot available on eBay. They come in all sorts of specs as you already know. Try to find a seller that's either in the US or the parts are in the US. I bought a lot at once so I have backups of the backups.

PM sent with a source I use.

To anyone reading this thread, please do not post ebay links, castboolits doesn't not allow that.

Check out omega thermocouple - do a Google search.

You can order custom or prepackaged, but they're not cheap compared to eBay.

I had to get ungrounded due to the converter I used when I built mine.

I just bought the uxcell type k from amazon. It cost $7.10 and is 7.8 inch probe. I made a stand for my lee pot and put a small hose clamp on the probe to keep it off the bottom.

Ordered some from China ... will be a while before they come, so found another on Ebay that will be here in a few days -- no brand name but the temp/length that I wanted. Have been busy building in a scavenged computer supply box, and am all set for the thermocouple to arrive so I can finally test this thing out.

I was looking on amazon for one to handle the temps of the knife making forge I'm building, took a bit to find what I needed but there were lots that were capable of handling the temps of lead.

Is there anyway to post info so folks can find an item on ebay? Perhaps just the item number? Someway to help folks out.

Omega is what's on mine. I made the K type TC myself using a thermo couple spot welder and scraps of K type paired wire. Retired now so no direct access to hobby supplies. Omega did sell to the public.
Omega sells completed TC sheathed in stainless steel to probe in hostile environments... like acid, molten lead etc. They are now cheap.

Where are you guys finding the female panel jacks for the K plugs? I can find the male plugs individually and by the big packs, but not the female jacks that go on the PID box.

I got mine from Amazon, but had to pay shipping, which was as much as the jack. Should have payed attention, and ordered 2, since it wasn't shipped with prime

No links allowed on here I guess but have found them at AUBERINS, OMEGA, NEWARK, & TCDIRECT (.com). Last one came out of MN and was I think shipped out of the MN Bookstore.

I order mine directly from a supplier in China.
You have to be VERY careful because a lot of the Ebay sellers don't speak english and use a translator.
I am stuck with 21 thermocouple probes (4 inch) that have a max temp of 752F.
If your not needing something higher then that send me a PM and I will give you one if you pay for shipping.

You want a TC that is at least 600C in temp and at least 100MM in length. That puts it just shy of 4 inches (3.97 inches) and 1100F temp rating.

When designing a device that uses a sensor, you want the sensor to be in the middle of its range when being operated normally.
This gives the most accuracy and the most life out of the unit.

AliExpress...$10 for two, shipping included. Be warned that it can take a few weeks to make its way over on the slow boat from China...that apparently is the "cost" of getting cheaper stuff.
