    Vintage scope mount

I have had this bouncing around my gun room for years, I can not find any markings on it except for the elevation graduations. it would mount on the vertical side of a slab side action, maybe a Martini or 1886 Win??
    Any Ideas ????

It's a No. 22 Rear Side Mount for top ejecting lever actions. Made by John W. Sidle for his Snap Shot telescope sight.

The front mount was an offset ring mounted with a flat base on the barrel.

Stroebel's book has the values for the scope tubes but I could find nothing about the cost of the mounts.

Thank you very much, I can find very little info on line. Does it say what model firearm it fits? I did find a few pics Sidle's work on a 1873 and 1894 Winchesters, but the mounting plates look nothing like this one.

To be kind, Stroebel's book is inaccurate on pricing. We can dream of buying at his prices !

I'd like to buy that mount as I have a home for it.

    Thanks !

The woodcut illustration looked like a Deluxe 94 Winchester.

All price guides in books are useless. Either ridiculously optimistic (and then you see every hopeful with a "NRA Horrible" condition specimen wanting the Moon for his corroded treasure) or negated by inflation between printing and distribution of the book.

There's also an Uncertainty Principle that operates: A book tends to increase collector interest, which then tends to raise prices of whatever "Collectible" the book is about. The pre-publication prices in the book are then ridiculously low.

Rowe and Curtis' book on reloading tools has a better system, IMHO, where it rates them on observed rarity, on a numeric scale. This can be translated ad hoc into a rough but realistic price guide depending on inflation and collector interest.
