    What's the best Lemi-Shine?

I want to clean up my BT Simple 223 bullets and I have heard that lemi-shine is the only thing to get. But, there aer quite a few products out there. This leads to the obvious question. Which one should I get ?

if you can find generic citrus acid that works the same. look in the dishwasher detergent section, only seen one product called lemi-shine around here.

You can buy 100% pure citric acid at several places online. It's used in food preservation, and is pretty cheap.

    Hope this helps.

I haven't seen the one called booster.
but then I bought a couple of cases of lemi-shine some time back and have a few more years until I use it up.
I use citric acid for all kinds of stuff,, I even put it in the dishwasher.

I usually find plain citric acid in the canning isle of the grocery store or Walmart.

Lemi shine usually costs about half food grade citric.

That's what I use. Lemon Juice, Dawn and super hot water. Shaken (not stirred) to death in a plastic coffee can till my arms are tired and then rinse till no more suds and then they are clean and ready for drying.

You only need it for hard water, I use 1/4 tsp Lemi-shine original or sometimes nothing at all. Before I had it I used vinegar it worked fine as well

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried Coke? Enough acid to dissolve a nail. I know it would be sticky and is probably the most expensive way of cleaning the brass, I am just curious.

for cleaning brass, I bought 100% pure food grade citric acid powder from duda diesel (a google search will get you there)
5lbs (a lifetime supply) is like $15 shipped.
it has many other uses as well (canning/cooking)

I think all that has happened is Lemi-Shine changed their packaging. See the attached photo. It's still Lemi-Shine, just with some jazz about Booster. It's the same stuff as it always was.Click image for larger version.

Citric acid (1 tablespoon per quart) is also a great rust remover. Just soak a few hrs or even overnight, rinse with water while brushing with a brass brush. I dry the item and coat with Ezox. Stops rust cold.

I use a pinch of Lemi- shine and a splash of Armor All wash & wax, and they shine like jewelry for years.

I found one of those drill press style cake making things from the kitchen, and after modifying the mixer thingys so they didn't hang up on the brass, I have a new case tumbler. I put some dishwasher detergent, dawn , lemon juice and some borax, let it run while I went to church, and when I got home, the brass was all clean.
