New casting production pot

Unfortunately I will have to replace my LEE 4-20 pot soon. It been a good one, it doesnt leak and pretty much maintenance free.
I dont really want another LEE seeing that their quality is usually good or bad.....and I feel I will be pushing my luck, hahahaha. Im only interested in bottom pour pots.
Ive been looking at the Lyman Mag 25 and the RCBS Pro Melt 2.
The Lyman has mixed reviews.
Id like to hear what you guys have to say about the Lyman and/or the RCBS.

Cant wait to see the replies..I'm also in the same boat as you. I was leaning towards the Mag 25 but the reviews are so so. I was also looking at the 4-20. would be an upgrade to my little 10 lb lee

I hate to sound like an RCBS fanboy but they make a great pot. I don't know for sure but I 'think' the warranty is now limited on casting pots.

I have no experience with the Lyman and have no reason to believe that it is anything but a good pot. But I know the RCBS is good....

WOW, can't seem to find a Pro melt anywhere....I got a Lee 4-20 yesterday and it works pretty good. Might get that mold guide posted here earlier in the year. Then again I may get a Pro Melt if I can find one cheaper then the only one I found online

I bought the RCBS in the early eighties and it is still working very well . As for the other choices you might have better luck with the LEE .

I bought the Lyman Mag 25 a couple of years ago and finally set it up today.It works fine so far.I checked the linotype temperature with a Brownells thermometer and it agreed with the display on the Lyman.No drips from the spout.I've been using a Lee 4-20.I have no complaints with it either.I've had it for at least 25 years.The occasional drip was always easy to deal with.

Got the Lyman a few months ago, after several thousand boolets I've had no trouble at all. One of these days I need to get around to reworking the mold guide to fit a couple custom molds, but hasn't been that much trouble so far.

I purchased my RCBS pot over 30 years ago and it's still going great. Many hundreds of thousands of cast bollits from this baby. I am 73 years old and fully expect this machine to out live me and continue with my son.

My RCBS is early '80s or older as well and still going strong.

I have the Lee 4-20 and Lyman Mag 25. Lee has about 4 years of casting and the Lyman right at two - got it early from Brownells. I took out the guides and just use a 2x4 with a 1/4 piece of aluminum as a platform to slide my block under the spout with about 1/8 to 3/16 clearance. Works well with Lee 6 bangers, MiHec and NOE molds. Temp on Lyman matches (within about 3 degrees) what the PID says (which I use on the Lee). Haven't had an RCBS pot so don't know about it but the Lyman has had well over 300 pounds of CWW through it without any dripping issues or any other problems.

The way Lyman quality, customer service, and the warranty has slid down hill over the last few years I would stay away from them. I've had no problems with my 4-20 but if I had to make your choice I'd definitely be going RCBS

I have both the lyman mag 25 and rcbs pro-melt pots. Both are great, but the lyman mold guide is terrible "out of the box" and has to be replaced or modified.

I was fine with my Lee 20 pounders, leaks and all

ran across a used Pro Melt and haven't looked back. I added an aftermarket shelf and lid (found it on this site) and converted it to PID control and it's all I could ask for, short of having someone do the casting for me

that won't happen as i enjoy casting too much

I bought the RCBS a couple years ago to replace an ancient Lyman 10#. I've been happy and have cast many thousands of bullets with it.

I have had no problems with the mold guide that came with the Mag 25.It probably helps that I use nothing but Lyman and RCBS molds.The NOE mold guide looks interesting but it wouldn't work with my hollow point molds.
