    My trapdoor

I bought this rifle this week from a friend. I have shot the gun several times but always with black powder. Yesterday I shot it with smokeless, 25 grains of 4759 to be exact. While the gun is fun to shoot and does draw a crowd, that trigger takes some getting used to. That sucker is hard. All the metal is in beautiful condition and the bore is bright and shiny but the stock was Bubbarized years ago, probably when the guns sold for about ten bucks.

That's a good looking Trapdoor! If you can find a decent donor stock, I've spliced them under the band and it will never show with the band in place.

S&S is great! Amazing there's enough chopped forearms for them to offer these repair forearms! Pretty cool!

I'll give you about ten bucks (a week) for it since it's so wretchedly disfigured......!

Man, that thing is slick!!! Shame about the stock but evidently that can be repaired to look correct.

I assume the barrel the rifle length still or did it get the carbine treatment with the stock? The picture does not show all the way to the muzzle.

No, Bubba did not touch any of the metal on the gun, just the stock. Buckshot says I should cut the barrel off and make it a carbine.

To adjust the trigger without changing anything you can soft solder a small brass shim into the sear notch and reduce the sear depth. Done right this will give you 4-5 pounds pull. DO NOT try and reduce it by filing or grinding the tumbler.

KCSO, I have been cautioned about taking the gun apart if you have never owned one so I am afraid to take it about.
