Someone posted a picture of a white moose the other day.

I wonder what the indigenous legends might say about such things?

That is really cool. I would hope neighbors and hunters could agree to let that one go unhunted.

There is an entire herd on the former Seneca Army Base in upstate NY: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seneca_white_deer

I've never seen one in real life. Not sure if I could shoot one if I did.

I wonder if they have china eyes too?

Oooops...not china, the wife said albinos would have pink eyes but the china eye would be spooky to see! My son has a dane with one china eye, it'll make you do a double take for sure.

They aren't albinos. It's a recessive gene that gives them a white coat.

nice deer!!! now i'd never kill them, heck i've passed on pinto deer. i just like to see them.

there was a legend or an old story that if you kill a white deer, then you kill nothing else. i don't believe it, but.......

Thank you Hickok for posting the pics for me.
This is the first piebald deer I've ever seen. We live a few miles out of town in a rural area. there are lots of houses around and if it doesn't wonder far should be safe from hunting. Cars and trucks will probably be it's biggest threat. I had never thought much about it while hunting, but I don't think I would shoot it if hunting. I was told it's considered bad luck to shoot a deer like this also.
It's a fawn, always seen with the another fawn so far. We are hoping it makes it through this coming winter. It would be cool if it turns out to be a buck.
It sure is a sight, a very pretty animal.
Thanks again to Hickok for posting the pictures for me.

I've seen one mounted, and pics, but have never seen one in the woods. And those should be very easy to spot in the wild! Sure are pretty. And I too probably wouldn't shoot one. Not sure just why, but "special" things in this world are too few and far between to exterminate them, I think. Thanks for the pics!

We have a few here. A white buck that was a 6 pt last year. I have seen two different piebald deer. One kept coming to my stand last year that had a lot of white hair on her head.

Beautiful animal. Seems albinos don't normally survive long in the wild without the natural camouflage, hope this one makes it.

Check your hunting regulations. In Tennessee it against the law to take a pibald or white deer! I have seen a pibald and did kill one with a white foot and lower leg once, but never seen a white one, except mounted. It was in a glass case, along with a white opossum, in a store on highway 60 near Ellsinore MO. It was a local celebrity and killed by a car according to the news paper article with it. The problems with making it illegal to take these white deer? I know of a place where the white deer are becoming predominant and protected! Just like selective breeding in livestock.
