I recently bought a Hawes Firearms Co. 1851 Navy .44 cal and I can't for the life of me find the age mark. It has the DGD circle under the ramrod and the serial number as it needs to be but no age anywhere. I thought they were supposed to always mark b/p guns or is it just a whim of the more noted makers? I know the identifying/proof/maker marks and just want to know if I missed something.
So my question is, were all manufactures supposed to stamp age/proofs/maker marks?
Thanks guys a gals.
