I like the look of the FA hand primer and will pick one up when I have the extra price of admission.

I'll be able to make a post on it in a week or so when I finally get to use it. If my understanding is correct, the new (newer) Lee hand priming trays are supposed to work on this unit as well.

Time will tell . . . . . and I do all of my priming with a hand primer - usually the Lee.
Bollocks...I didn't notice they changed the safety prime trays, and I gave away my old rounds ones. Hopefully I can find an old stock item somewhere, I tried the triangle ones with the pro 1000 and did not care for them. Hand priming tool may be in my future as well.

    What does FA stand for?
    Who makes it?
Maybe this is another joke thread.

I've primed 10's of thousands of different cases thru the years with the old Lee
round tray primer tool....never had a problem and have picked up several at
different gun shows for cheap prices. One was brand new in the box I bought
for I think $8.00 They were and are the best ones in my opinion.

Lee changed the old (round tray) hand primer tools because they had a propensity to explode in the users' hand on occasion.

Having a primer "pop" whilst priming is startling, but the entire tray chain-fires - that's something else entirely. After several reports of it happening, and Lee issuing a warning to use only certain brands of primers, I think that Lee figured it was cheaper in the long ruin to discontinue (re-design) the tool.

The newer one doesn't work as neatly, but the word is that they explode less often.

Which sort of takes the excitement out of the priming.

That said, I have 3 of the old ones, round tray style. I still use them occasionally, but mostly prime on-press with the Lee Cast Turret.

I thought I was describing the Frankfort Arsenal Hand Primer. This has become a thread about other "better" products. Stay on topic.

I purchased one of these frankford arsenal hand primer tools awhile back after my lee quit me again, I am really impressed with it so far I have used it to prime several different pistol and rifle calibers without a hiccup and i like the seating depth feature, when the primer is seated it comes to a dead stop. Lee shellholders do fit the kit doesnt come with the one to prime 45 auto rim the (lee #13) i had worked perfectly. impressed so far.
I dont know how long the little snap on tabs for the tray cover will last, the are much like the lee but thicker still plastic though. that was the first thing to go on the last lee. If they make it through the winter im sure they'll be fine. Im being mighty careful with them though.
