    Fiber optic scopes

As I get older, my vision is going far sighted. Having a hard time seeing the front sight. It keeps getting worse. I don't need magnification for the hunting I do.

I have been using a red dot. It works very well and I can shoot both eyes open. Here's my issue. I really hate having to depend on batteries. And there is no way in hell I'm going to drop 500 bucks or more on a Trijicon or ACOG. There isn't any good reason I can thing of that justifies that kind of money on such old technology....especially with no magnification. Ok, so it's old tech put to a new use. I can get a magnified 4x or 8x scope cheaper then a 1x. Why?

Are there any reasonable 1x fiber optic red dots available?

Well I have been putting Red Dot sights on my guns for some 3 years now.

Now I still have some rifles with 3x9 or 4-12 variables and they are fine.
But I have several carbines, pistols with red dot sights that are just a hoot to shoot.

Here is my point, in 3 years I have had to replace one battery. Yep, one. Left the unit on for 6 months or thereabouts.

So my next range trip I stopped and bought 2, paid way too much for them.
Mentioned it to my wife. We looked up the numbers, bought a card of a dozen battery's for less than I paid for one.

It is IN the range bag. Waiting.

And I don't worry about battery's any more, period. YMMV.

Mine says 72 hours continuous use with cr2032's. If you knew me, you would know my luck goes to hell at the worst possible time. It would die the very instant I raise on a lifetime buck!

    Clones on eBay from China.
    Hit or miss on quality.

Only option right now for an inexpensive, non battery powered, illuminated reticle scope.
    1x or otherwise.

    Good luck

Yea. I seen those. Has me wondering about quality too. Guess I'll have to spit up 500 bucks if I want one. The Meprolight looks interesting.
