Which is better, SWC or TC for 40sw?

I have a CZ Tactical Sport in 40sw and putting together a 2011 in 40sw. Two molds I have are a Lee 175gr tumble groove 4 cavity and a 2 cavity 180gr RCBS. The RCBS is great, but only 2 cavity.

I'm looking for a 200gr 4 or 5 cavity mold. I can't decide if a SWC, a TC, RF, or a WFN mold is better. I'll probably stick with a .402 diameter, maybe a .403 as I'll likely have to size them anyway.

    Arsenal has some 40sw molds, one is a Keith 200gr 402, 200gr RF, 200gr .403 TC.

NOE doesn't have any in stock.

Lee 4-cavity? Wasn't aware they made one. I have the Lee 6-cab 401-175 TC (non-TL) which shoots great. I would hold out for a NOE when they're back in stock. Their 200 WFN looks like a hammer. There are some in stock:http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/product...05nj3ltpb8aqp4

I built a Polymer 80 compact as a 40 S & W Glock 23. I'm shooting the Lee 401 175gr from 2cavity mold and it is so good at 25 yards I'm not going to mess with the load or testing other boolits or bullets. Casts very easy, no sizing and shoots great.

It will depend on your SWC mold. I would think anything with a Keith style will be iffy feeding wise. I have the RCBS 170gr mold & it works great, more a TC than true SWC.

I have a couple of lee TC molds in different calibers and I am very fond of all of them.

The little .314 90 gr TC was a real problem solver for my CZ-52 in 7.62x25. Totally solved my chambering problems.

I have a .356 124 tc which is ok in some 9mm's, not so much in others. But I don't blame that on the mold. Some guns just need a bigger bullet.

And the last one is in .40 for use in my Hipoint .40sw carbine.

With all 3 I have never had failure to feed problems of any kind.

    I have a SV 2011 in 40 s&w with with a ramped bull barrel.
That gun will feed everything. Just load them long if your barrel permits it.

I always prefered a 200 grain Montana Gold CMJ, but I also shot many 180 & 200 grain lead SWC and 185 grain lead RN.

SWC can cause feeding issues. No issues with the TC mold. Different pistols, different results.

Truncated cone stands a better chance of not having any feeding issues .
The best boolit profile is the one your gun will feed....if it doesn't feed , then it's useless.

One more fan of TC, but like others have said " in your gun" is all that matters.
