    Tradition

Another old fart friend of mine, yes I do have a friend, have a tradition involving Model `97`s. He has his grand dads 12 with a full choke. I have one I got back when Studabakers were new that has a modified barrel for 12 gauge on it. Every year for the last 35 or better, can`t recall when we started this. We go out on the opening day of our pheasant season here and do it the way our fathers used to. My chum takes the long shots with his very tight full choke and I get the rising and moderate shots with my modified choke. I hand load the shells so nothing gets fired in them too spicey. Nice looking corn sheller.Robert

    OK NICE!!

    Just remember a few things
If you plan on using it off the hip
Watch where your thumb is when you pump

I still have a scar from the bolt on mine removing a big chunk of skin

    The other
When you hold the trigger and pump
    Do it quick
That way the hammer will be able to set off the next shell

If you pump slowly , the hammer normaly will just follow the bolt forward and you will have to cock the hammer

OH I am sure someone looked
But I have one that originaly had a 2 9/16" chamber
    Not the normal 2 3/4"

I had my chamber lengthened and the barrel restamped
As it was a parts gun anyway

And every one of the 97's with 30 full barrels
Shot super tight with modern wads

Loads with card / fiber wads pattern a lot better in mine
