After I graduated up from my 30/30 Lee Loader. I moved up to an RCBS Jr loading 308 Norma mag in the early 70's.

30-06 in 1964. My first center fire rifle, an 03-A3 purchased at Sears in Odessa, Texas. Paid $24.95 for the rifle.

I enjoy the posts telling the stories about how folks started off 30-50 years ago with whatever was handy.

I'm at the other end of the age spectrum, starting to shoot later in life. I bought a 316-160 LFN mould from LBT to start my reloading story for .303 British cartridges using a Lee breech lock single stage press.

I've slowly expanded to include .308 Winchester; next up will be .38 Special

.38 Spl was my first, although that has branched out into several others as well.

.223 Rem using Lee Loader. Wanted to be sure I liked it before I spent more $$$. I really learned alot and enjoyed the experience. I was amazed at the great rounds I could load with the Lee Loader.

.257 Roberts sometime around 1990 on a jr 2 press, I've since gotten the press from him, still trying to talk him out of that gun though.

I shot 1,000 factory loads the first summer I owned the Redhawk! I had to buy an RCBS Rock Chucker Master kit to reload the brass that winter!😉

The first? Was the 9x21, an italian cousin of the 9 parabellum or Luger. In Italy the 9 Luger was (and is also now...) forbidden...
    Was the 1990...

44mag. Saw a 8-3/8" 29 at the local Gander Mountain and had to have it. Never looked at the price of ammo until I picked it up. I bought one box of federal 240gr jhp which was the cheapest ammo they had to take it out and shoot it. Next trip I got a Lee press kit, Speer manual, powder, primers and a couple big boxes of the 240gr LSWCHP hornadys and haven't ever bought another box of 44mag ammo. Not long after that I got a set of 45ACP dies, then 223, then....... Started casting a couple years later. Outside of shotgun (and I've loaded them before) and rimfire it is rare that I buy ammo.
