What's The First Caliber You Ever Reloaded?

For me I went straight to brave, and it was 204 Ruger.

That was some time late in 2008, and I remember holding my breath and saying a little prayer before I dropped the hammer on that first round. Everything turned out well, of course.

Next up was 308. Didn't actually start reloading any pistol until the middle of 2009.

When I started reloading, I started reloading for all the calibers I was shooting at the time--so it was several. 45 ACP was probably the first round out of the press though.
I love guns, tacos, and lead. I use the guns. The guns eat lead. And I eat tacos. I make videos about the first 2 things.

First reloads were 12ga shotshells with a Lee hand loader around 1963. Metallic was .30-06 in 1974 to hunt reh deer in Germany. Now load about 30 different cartridges on a Rockchucker (same one I bought in 1974) and 3 gauges on MECs (12, 20 & 28)

First reload was 20 gauge shotshell with Lee hand loader in probably 1962 First metallic was 222 Remington. Equipment belonged to a buddy. It was an old C press. Powder was measured with a cutoff 30-06 case, cut down and soldered to a piece of baling wire. He had verified charge with someone else who had scale. I remember that he had two length gauges, one for overall loaded shell length and one for empty case length. They were both carriage bolts, double nutted to the length. Had some home made tube and a file to file stretched cases to proper length.

I started loading 44 mag for a handi rifle. I could not get that thing to shoot until I experimented with everything until I got a good shooting load. this rifle also got me into cast bullets as that was my ultimate goal. It took a bit of learning but I now have a moa 44 handi. That is along as I feed it what it likes. Otherwise it is a more like a 20 gauge modified choke.
