Not after using the BPI roll crimper you use in a drill for my 410 loads. Easy to use and I know I will get more consistent ammo.

Are these plastic, paper, or brass hulls?
I have a 12 and a 20 ordered. They are supposed to work on paper or plastic shells.
Plastic hulls

Yes sir, the roll crimpers do a fine job on plastic hulls, it's all I ever used. I don't know that it would have occurred to me to glue in OSC's in plastic hulls. I tried gluing them in with brass hulls but have since gone to waterglass.

Made my own roll crimper. Plans can be found on the net. Even the old antiques seem to work well.
I have an old antique in 12 ga that works fine.
However I have been considering a mini drill press from Harbour freight and a new BPI roll crimper next to my shotgun reloader. I think it would just be handy.
It could also have a spin doctor chucked into it, or skiving tool.
I made a hull vice out of two blocks of wood. Clamp together and drill hole in the middle where the crack is. Put shell up a bit so when you clamp the shell between the wood the rim will form a groove and keep it from slipping to the bottom. I use a low profile wide drill press vice to clamp the blocks together.

I just place the shell over the center hole of the drill press plate, clamp with my thumb and forefinger
when the shell wants to spin the roll crimp is done .. works quite well for me
