    Perhaps but the ones I spoke of were made by the ordnance dept.

    Yes sir.The ones that I referenced were experimented with in the late 1880`s.

    In 1944 or there about's, Mel Johnson was tasked with development of a motor powered Gatling gun, so they took 30-40 Gatlings out of storage from some museum, and I believe that they were testing them at Eglin in Florida--Can't remember where I saw it, read it or maybe it was at their museum--

    The U.S. Army Ordnance Museum at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD, (since relocated to Fort Lee, VA) had an M1900 Gatling in .30-40 Krag in their lobby with a plaque stating that it had been used for such a test. IIRC, they obtained over 3,000 RPM with it. There were no details on the plaque stating when or where the test was conducted.
