    rws 34 target pics--howed this happen ?

75 years old now so my shooting at the range has been limited.
Ive been doing a little back yard pellet rifle shooting.

Been reading about how to zero a 22 cal air rifle, something about how the pellet arcs and will hit at two points along it's trajectory.
I tried it and this is what I got, I think I got it correct.
I was a tad taken back with the accuracy.

Pic 1 rifle sighted for 10 yards, dead on hold.
Scope was not adjusted after getting the 10 yard zero.
Still got over 20 clicks of elevation left on the up turret.

Bore line is angled ever so slightly upward in relation to line of sight. Closer than ten yards the bore line is below line of sight at ten yards it intersects. At 20 yards though the pellet is dropping in relation to line of the bore its still above the line of sight. At 33 yards pellet drop in relation to line of the bore has once more brought the pellet's flight into intersecting the line of sight.

That is 100% Normal, 10 yds. is called the "near zero" and 30 yds. the "far zero".... In between the trajectory rises above the line of sight of the scope.... If you shoot further away than 30 yds. the pellet impact will drop as you expect.... Download "ChairGun" from the Hawke website, it is a great tool for airguns....

Yep, what they said by the way nice shooting, Springers take a careful followthru. Your trajectory mirrors my experience and is a very good "field zero" for squirrels and such.

Thanks folks, I guess I will leave it as is.
Seems like it would be a 1" kill zone from 10 to a tad over 30 yards.

That's fine shooting and looks like a perfect sight in for hunting. Very accurate rifle and the rifleman too!
