I NEED a Uberti 76 in 40/60, 45/60, and 50/95. That would round out the collection.

I chose the .45-70 and my choice would be in a genuine (JM) Marlin 1895!

I have a 1894C in .357 Mag and a 336 SC in .35 Remington. I like them a great deal, but I yearn for a .44 Mag and if I could only have just one? Then I would opt for the .45-70.

As of late I've been leaning toward the 45-70. My dad has a 30-30 and it meets his needs just fine, but we try not to overlap on firearms to give us more of a variety. I've thought about the .357 for like caliber and plinking, but think it's use would be limited to that.

Time on my hands these days so I will post on this string which I have refrained because the postulate is unrealistic. I already have one of each or more of these, depending on good deals that came my way over the past 55 years. I didn’t get a .450 Marlin, because the brass is oddball and not makeable from something common. Casull also specialized, little different from .45 Colt in a rifle.
Missing from list are three fine usable hunting rounds which will take deer and hogs, .41 Magnum, .32 Winchester Special, and .375 Winchester, all of which are improved with cast bullets. IMHO.

Purely as an intellectual exercise, simply because of its nationwide availability, I would choose the 30-30.

Does this thread refresh itself with no new posts? Almost daily it shows a new post, yet there rarely is. The last post before this one was the 24th, yet in 7 days it has refreshed at least 6 times. Just wondering why?

I noticed that, I think it is refreshing whenever someone votes on the poll. More votes than comments.

I have been enamored with the 38-55 for several years now. I thought maybe I would get bored of it after a while. Hasn't happened yet. Not realistic for prepping but I really like it more than the rest.

used to be 357 for me, but using low velocity or even subsonics a lot of the time, I wanted a bit more oomph. So 44 mag loaded to 44-40 levels

Winchester 9422 for small game and plinking. Otherwise I love lever action rifle barrels with big holes in them. Model 71 Winchester, 50 Alaskan. 525 gr. cast Linotype. Can be loaded to plink or loaded to "hammer".

Using the .45-70 and reloading you can go up or down in power to use it as a .45 Colt or a full house .45-70. Loading as a .45 Colt you use filler and pistol bullets. Makes a fun all around caliber.
