    Shorty's

On the Encore and Contender 10" 12" and 14" which powders should give the best results in accuracy and velocity in general? Thinking 35rem,44mag, 357max .
    Thanks Aaron

    Howdy !

    IMHO - Give WW296/H110 a try. I used it w/o a filler for .357Mag loads in an 1894SC. Shot great !

    I also used it in a .357Max H & R SB2 Ultra Rifle.

WW296 could not be topped on accuracy, for loads shot in my custom 22" 1-16 SS barreled bolt rifle; chambered in
    .357AutoMag ( but using a .358" cal barrel ). I did use " Pufflon " filler w/ these loads.

    14.5gr WW296 is my go-to load for .357MAg in 4, 5, and 6" "N"-frames.

    My point: WW296 gave great accuracy and good vel's in .357" - .358" caliber barrels from 4" - 22".

I'll try to send some pics.
    Semi-circular group was shot w/ my custom 4" heavy-barreled .357Mag "N".
The one ragged hole group was shot @ 100yd w/ the AutoMag " carbine ".

    With regards,
    357Mag

Thanks, I do have a lot of that I could use! I think I was over thinking the shorter barrel thing a bit.
    Thanks Aaron

    Howdy !

    Forgot to mention....

With WW296, you'll need to keep charges " up there "... more towards upper-end of allowable charge; and away from minimal charges.

IMR4227 load info can give an idea of where upper charge limits for WW296 might be

    With regards,

    Aaron -

    Pics attached....

Yellow/green target is the 5-shot 50yd group mentioned in PM.

Second group pictured is 5-shot 100yd group. I held off to compensate for windage on the last 2 shots, based
on what I thought the windflag was showing me. Aacck .... both shots went wide of the core 3-shot group !

    This XLR can shoot !

The cream and black bullseye shows a group I shot @ 100 w/ the AutoMag. You'll note a smaller cal hole lower on the target. That hole was there from a previous range cession w/ a different gun; and I re-used the target paper to check out the AutoMag.

Barrel pic shows muzzle end of the AutoMag barrel.

M-336 XLR barrel clamp seen in another pic. I cast it in-place using " casting resin "/
