    14" TC 44 Magnum - alloy suggestions?

I'm picking up a 14" .44 TC soon, and I want to cast a general-purpose large-meplat hunting and target bullet. I'm thinking about something like the 240gr Lyman #429421.

I've never dealt with a pistol that can do 1,600fps+ before. Most of my casting for pistols has been at much lower velocities. Can I get an alloy recommendation?

I have access to COWW, sheet lead, and some 25% Tin alloy.

    Thanks!

I use 70/30 WW/lead in my 12" Contender and an Accurate Molds 240 gr. TC boolit because I have lots of pure and want to conserve my WW. But I only load to just over 1400 fps. No leading though.

Load a 180gr Hornady XTP and you can get nearly 2000fps.

COWW + 2% tin water quenched and sized to your groove diameter will shoot great

Works great out of my 16" Win 94 wrangler

If you're looking at 1600+ fps I suggest a GC bullet. The 429244 and 429640HP are my choice in Contenders, rifle/carbines and 6"+ barreled revolvers in 44 magnum.

    A 16-1 alloy is what I use.
