adjustable gas blck for mini 14

I remember reading about altering AR gas blocks to make them adjustable, also there are a number of aftermarket AR gas blocks available but just one that I know of for the mini and it's kinda pricey. Has anyone tried converting theirs or have seen a gas block converted to be adjustable for the mini-14? I have a stainless clamp on JP for my AR and love it, rifle seems to be a lot nicer to shoot and cycles smoother. I have a small bushing in my mini. It has a .043 orifice and it's home made but made to the same external dimensions as my original bushing and works well but an adjustable one would be nice to have. Thanks

10X: ASI makes a stationary gas piston that is threaded to accept a 4-40 screw. The screw hole intersects the hole in the piston below the bushing hole. They sold them for $35.

The stock one is hard as hell and can't be drilled or tapped.

That is what I got for my Mini. I had to drill a hole in the stock gas block front for the screw to go thru which wasn't too hard to do.

Put it back together and opened the screw one turn and the brass pooped out right next to me. Never have adjusted it again.

Your small bushing will work just fine. Many guys buy bushings from guys over at Perfect Union. $5 each or $15 for a set of three so you can "tune the gun."

ASI's Gas Block is nice but it is expensive and a $5 bushing works fine. If you want to choke the gas all the way off then the adjustable one is the way to go. I have one for my Garand and use it for when I slow fire when shooting National Match, and run the action by hand so I don't have to chase my brass.
