How well would this boolit work in a Marlin 1894 and possibly for deer?

    Hello glock_556,

I have ran it thru my marlin 357 but had to crimp it over the front drive band in 357 mag brass. The 38 specials worked great crimped in the crimp groove.

As a solid mine out of soft alloy weight 178 grs. That is plenty heavy to get it done for close range deer hunting.
The only way it wouldn't kill one is poor shot placement or if the deer had a flack jacket on........

I use the small point for driving it very hard for varmints and yotes the large point is too explosive at upper velocities.
For hunting I use it in solid form and use full house loads.

I shot a doe up on the farm we hunt on Lake Roosevelt for sausage with this bullet cast in solid form out of a lyman mold. I was dead in 10 steps!

Just my experiences with it your mileage may vary.

Would you recommend PB or GC?

I have never needed a GC but don't typically run wide open loads. If you plan to run upper end jacketed loads a gc is not a bad idea for added safety factor against leading
