    Let's see the....

Let's see the muzzleloader you will be using this year!

Mine is a Traditions St.Louis Hawken .50cal kit gun I put together. She's sighted in, cleaned, lubed and ready for September 9th!

Well, the old Texas deer rifle (.40 bore Great Plains Rifle) is illegal in this state so...

I built this .62 caliber Flinter to be my go to hunting muzzleloader a few years ago.

Since it is a hunting rifle and a quick follow up shot is nearly impossible I decided not to put an underrib, pipes and ramrod under the barrel(keep the rifle lighter) and instead opted to make a 3 piece ramrod to carry in my possibles bag.

I've only tipped one whitetail doe over with it since I built it but it does shoot very well for me. This is 5 shots at 100yards offhand, the paper is 6"x6" square.

It will be either my .50 flintlock rifle or my smoothbore flintlock. The smoothbore has already taken a large doe but the .50 is yet un-christened. I'd post photos of both but I cannot get them posted from "imageBB" or "postimage" storage sites. Photo Bucket is holding over half my photos for ransom.

Where did you get the stock or did you start with a plank so you could profile it the way you wanted? How bad does that 120gr. load kick?

Ordered a Traditions Kentucky Rifle kit today... It's the low budget of ML rifles but it will get me in the door and qualifies for GA because it's a fifty. Post a pick when I get it.

I'm a full time custom gunmaker so I just bought a blank and built to my specifications/measurements.
That's why it has a Pachmayr Decelerator on it instead of a steel buttplate.
You can read all the specs. here: http://www.stolzergunsmithing.com/huntersflintlock.htm

No pics. Pic hosting is a pain. Mine is a Renegade stock, .54 GM flint drop in barrel, L&R RPL Lock. De farbed barrel, Hawken Shop trigger guard all iron browned. Stock has nothing but Tung Oil on it. The 1:70 twist likes 120gr of Goex FFg. Packs a whallop but the shotgun butt plate spreads that out.

Built for elk and hopefully a buffalo but whitetail don't walk away from it.

    .

I'll be using two different ones, by law (my state mandates under .40cal for small game, over .40 cal for deer).

    .36cal & a .45cal T/C Seneca's

So does that mean that you cannot use a .40 for anything?

My new build is a "Bestill Creations" Omega with 25" Brux 45 barrel. Salt and pepper thumbhole Boyds stock. Older and proven durable piece of Nikon glass on top. Plan to shoot H4198 under a Pittman bullet, ignition by Winchester 209, no load development yet. Barrel drop sizing die. Use my original Mack's folding loading rod when afield. 10

    PS: Yes it's a SML.

Wisconsin says anything 40 caliber and above for big game. Mine is a special rifle a friend built for me about 3 years ago. It is a left hand flinter, .58 caliber Rice round groove barrel, Chambers lock. Everything else my friend made! Hand forged buttplate, sights, lock side plate, trigger guard, ramrod tip, barrel keys, inlays of coin silver, curly Maple plank (wanted curly walnut but way much money and not immediately available), etc. Full length view:

I wish Wisconsin had a flintlock season! Any muzzleloader is legal here, so a Remington bolt action look-a-like with a scope is OK. Sorry, I am a traditionalist and even use a muzzleloader during rifle season.

mazo kid - that's a beautiful rifle! I'll bet it is a joy to shoot as well!

By the way Hiram . . . that rifle will probably shoot the best if you are facing or traveling East . . . . Enjoy Brother . . .
