    Massive 500 hollow point mold

Up for discussion on the NOE forums in case you have not seen it is a 700 grain (nominally) 500 mold. With the deepest pins, it will be about 580 grains. Hows that for overkill? Twice I have purchased 700 grain molds, and twice I have sworn off of them, but maybe I'm a slow learner because I'm going back at it.

I have wanted and searched for years without success for a Mihec "Grand Canyon" with no luck, and I think this will be just as good. Good for what, I have no idea, but it should leave you properly armed if any blue whales enter your area of operation and become aggressive.

Signups have been sparse so I wanted to make sure this one got a little more attention. I have been watching it since it got posted but interest appears to be limited, and more people will see it here.

Please be advised this is only being offered in a "Hitek" grooveless design. It will have a crimp groove. Meplat is 0.420, or around 84% of the bore diameter for those keeping score.

These are only offered in aluminum hollowpoint design, 2 or 4 cavity. NOE always offers a 15% discount when you pre-order.

A slightly modified version may be going up for sale much quicker than anticipated, so please review the new posts in this thread:

Older tooling for a previous 700gr run is to be used with a big honking hollowpoint. So if you are interested, jump on and we can kick this puppy off quick.

Holy Cow...those casts make the blocks look undersized!
My first thought is that they will take longer between pours or some modified method of chilling the Pb (setting it on a moist towel or ?) because of the size difference, that's a lot of heat to dissipate.

What is your observation casting those Taco?

I've just done a Dawn scrub and the heat cycles so far. I still need to pour some lead into the cavities. And yes, with that much lead, I am thinking a damp towel might be necessary to help keep the mold cool enough.
