Lots of tips and solutions.
Take a look at the lever plunger, on the heal of the lever, it's what locks things up. They get rounded. It's very easy to remove the lever, drive out the little roll pin, dress the plunger and reassemble. Be careful, there is a small spring inside, don't loose it. rarely but occasionally the springs will break. I heard about it but have never had it happen. If you are not up to doing this yourself, check Numrich or Brownells for a lever plunger.
Simple.
There is some freplay in the bolt lever slot but not sure it should drop an inch when the deten is the problem. Use a screw driver or somthing to push on the deten pin - it should move OK. They are notorious for the left carrier screw being loose and messing up the action.
Whatever!
