    45 Colt loads 395 gr boolit??

    Anyone have any reloading data for this ? I found a partial box of these I have left over from when I had a Model 83 in 454 Casul.
    I know they are heavy for the Colt but figure I should be able to boot them out at 1,000 fps or maybe a bit more.
    Thanks in advance.
    I have H110 powder and Accurate #9.

    We loaded a 420 grain in our 45s. Fifteen grains of wc 820, Remington 2 1/2 and starline brass ran right at a thousand.

    Depends what you are shooting them out of :
    Hodgdon says for H110 and 1000 f\s : 20.5 g for a 335g / 18.0 for a 360 g ;

    395g 15.0 - 15.5 should get you where you want BUT, these are all about 20,000 cup.

    Fine for Rugers (even a little on the light side), maybe OK for S&W etc.
    Not so much for a Peacemaker.

    If you're gonna be stupid, don't pull up short. Saddle up and ride it all the way in.

    Shooting them in a Ruger Bisley Blackhawk SS. 5 1/2" . It will be interesting to see how they penetrate. And if they fly straight. Or if they go thru the target sideways .

    We shot them out of stock Ruger Blackhawks. The bullet is a round flat nose and there's lots in the case. I initially loaded 15 for six rounds. The next time I loaded fifteen and a half. Shooting them into ice, the fifteen grain load looked pretty good. Fifteen and a half, the crimp groove and first lube band were wiped out from expansion. We've shot lots of 405 grain rifle bullets sized down with good results even at long range.
    We have pressure data on the 420 grain if your interested.

    Yes. Im interested. I managed to drop my fon at work today and it died on impact. Cabbaged onto my wifes fon to check this thread. . The boolits I have are a round shouldered flat nose. They weigh 397 gr lubed and gas checked. What velocity did you get with the 405/15.5 gr H110 load ?
    Thank you.
    Glen.
