    All metal valve?

Wher can I find an all metal valve to use on a botton pour smelting pot? The ones I have found all have a silicone insert. Please give a location and a part # if you have one.
    Thanks

if you review the bottom pour projects that people on here have done you will see how to build your own, thats what you will probably need to do. lot of good photos of their valves in the archives too.

Never saw a commercial one. I have built a few out of steel. Just simple tapered rod in a tapered seat seems to work.

at home depot, just look for the ones with a rond bumpy handle and then look inside those until you find one that has a brass gate that rises as you turn the handle. if you look carefully there aren't any plastic pieces in it. I haven't bought or used one yet but I am gonna make a bottom pour propane tank smelter, the only thing I can see is that the gate in the valve moves kinda slow, if you could rig a slighty wider handle with a swiveling grip it would help a lot, I found some of these valves that already had a 90* downturn sso I would just need threaded steel pipe to weld through the side so the pipe ends right in the bottom center.

Almost all commercial valves have a packing around the spindle to seal it. While lead shouldnt get to it the heat will ruining the seal and binding the valve up. A simple sliding tapered seat in a housing works good. For best results you want to lap valve and seat together ( like a engines valve and seat are)for the best seal and longevity. These style valves do very good and with a decent surface seal well.
