    Top punch for 358627 mould?

I am about to obtain a Lyman 358627 mould in a trade and I just realized that I probably do not have the correct top punch. As I just recently found out the 358627 mould is no longer made and apparently the #627 top punch is no longer made either. If someone could please refer me to a modern day substitute top punch I would really appreciate it. It will be for an RCBS lube sizer.

The 358429 top punch should be pretty close if not the same.

    Nut,

Yes, the punch for the 429 should work. Worked when it lived here, anyway!

Although there are tremdous variations in "429" punches, just like the moulds have varied so much over the years.

A simpler solution is to take an extra top punch & have it milled flat. You can then use it on almost any semi-wadcutter.

I now have the mould and was able to do some casting with it. When it came to lubing and sizing them the Lyman #429 punch worked fine but the #495 punch worked perfectly.

Glad you got it. Well, what do you think? Like it?

When it comes to top punches, a file or sander and some form of epoxy mix will go a long way. I've seen a lot of people mess up bullet noses when all they had to do was a little fitting.
