HELP!! Noob with new star messed up!

I had begun to disassemble my new to me star trying to clean it up and get rid of the old lube. I had the bright idea to fill the reservoir with kroil and force it out with the spring plunger. Well the screw that holds the hycar washer came off and now it and the washer are at the bottom of the reservoir. How can I remove the washer?
And the question I should have posted before I took this thing apart. How should I clean it?
    Thanks

    Plumber,

To remove the plunger, take off the rod and cap that goes on top of the reservoir. Then, turn it upside down and thread the end of the rod into the washer assembly. Use the upside down cap as a nut against the top of the reservoir and simply screw the washer towards the top. At some point you should be able to just pull it up. A little heat via a blow dryer will help loosen things up and make the plunger assembly easier to remove.

The easiest way to clean a STAR is to heat it with hot water and let the old lube melt out. Make sure you have removed any sizing die that is in the machine.

There are several threads about cleaning a STAR and I think some even have pictures. You might want to search for them.

I have the plunger out, the problem is the screw and washer that goes on the bottom of the plunger is stuck at the bottom.
    Will try the search.
    Thanks

you could try a length of 1/4x20 threaded rod like the old ones for a carbeurator just screw it in some and pull it out.
i just remove the sizing die and the little brass screw on the side and heat up the luber and let it run out.

I was able to get the washer out. I made a hook out of 3/16 bar stock. Panic mode over, I've got the sizer boiling in my smelting pot right now. ( will dry completly, no tinsel fairy )

    I'm a *******, I suck, throw rocks at me.

Let the first one without sin throw the first stone.
It's somewhat comical to watch others stumble over the paths that we have tread. Be brave you will watch others do the same.
