ok, that gives me a bit more confidence that I am in the right direction. all I have to do is melt it all together, in two batches, and my 3.5%-3.5%-.5%cu blend, (all 250lbs of it) will be done. I am waiting a week or two, because I finally have the cash to get the Cajun jet burner. my old fryer can hardly keep the lead in a mushy state.

I run the Lyman big dipper pretty much on high. If I back off much I get wrinkles.

I like to do big batches so I know I wont have any sruprises for a long time! If I did small batches I would invariably forget my recipe, and even if I wrote it down I would lose the note! lol luckily my head is screwed on,lol

Here are the promised data. I set up to get the chronograph data based on distance from other shooters since muzzle blast causes problems with data collection. That put me on the 25 yd line. I had no one to the right of me and the nearest to my left was two benches down. If I didn't get a group like this, I would be wanting to know why. On the other hand, I wasn't really trying for a group.

    31-160G sized 0.311"; 44.2 gr RL22; oal 2.600"
Alloy, according to the excel spreadsheet, is 92.9Pb/3.68Sn/3.41Sb and was air cooled.

Looks like my original guess on velocity wasn't that far wrong, the average is 2382. I actually fired 11 shots. The 11th shot, not included here, was 2404 fps.

In addition to that, I also shot some loads with 43.0 and 44.0 gr RL17 that chronied about 2750 and 2850 fps, respectively. However, the first of the ten shots at 44.0 grs went 3046 fps. I'm guessing that one was loading error and was probably 45.0 grs of powder. There were no signs of pressure with any of these loads. The brass is Hornady Match, which is on it's fifth firing, and Rem 9 1/2 primers. All charges are weighed, so I can't account for the error. The other nine were pretty tight around 2850 fps with SD about 19, however the group was about one inch which at 25 yds is 4-5 MOA. This bears more testing but I think accuracy will require a lower velocity.

great job! congratulations! probably better than I can do! I dunno, I never shoot paper. mainly water jugs and shotgun clays, and anything else that looks fun to blow to pieces.

hey quick out of context question, so if I add 1oz of zinc to my alloy, then add 4oz of zepp (25%cu) when it is mixed in completely, there won't be any zinc and it will have left the tin alone? does the zinc get thrown out with the powder/dross?
