Light weight round nose 9mm small game bullet ???

Does anyone have a favorite light weight 9mm round nose bullet they use on edible small game ??

I haven't used any special light weight projectiles for small game in a 9mm, but a 125gr. TC over about 5.5/Unique anchored a squirrel & a young jack rabbit for me (STILL tough to chew). Never REALLY thought I'd connect on either shot, but I got lucky. You might try something cast, in the 115 - 125 gr. range with the flattest point on it that you can find. If you keep your velocity nearer to 1000 f/s than 1100, you should be okay if you land one in the breadbasket of whatever you're aiming at.

I have killed a lot of small game with 9mm and 357 bullets. I wouldn't shoot small game with a large meplat over 1100 fps. I consider a large meplat to be 28 cal such as the Lee 158-RF and the Ranch Dog 135-RF. I have used smaller meplat bullets such as the Lee 125-RF and 120-TC around 1250 fps and they leave a finger sized hole through a rabbit without ruining any meat.

I use a RNFP 135gr over 4gr. WST in my XDs. I hate RN in 9 as they are hard to seat straight with a normal seater plug. It's more about alloy than shape. I shot a rock pile with 40SW TC, COWW with a tad of Cu. Almost NO loss of weight but SIL's 9 115gr factory stuff got all smashed/broken/bent up on the same target. Same load in the 40SW (165gr ~ 950 fps) made a nice hole in the rump of a 150# pig, broke a front leg and still came out under the jaw. Point is, proper alloy won't break up and will make 2 holes, even at relatively low fps. RN not needed.

The Lyman 358242 was produced in two weights around 92 gr. and around 120 gr. I have both but the lighter one should fit your need. I guess it's currently listed as 356242 but appears to be in current production in both weights.
I'm not pushing Midway but they list both as available.

Thank you that is the exact bullet that I settled on I was given a handful and they feed good accuracy is good and damage seems to be about what I was looking for.

That's easy. Lee 102gr. I powder coat these and size them .356" I use 4gr Bullseye in 9x19. I had my doubts at first but after shooting 2ltr soda bottles at 50 to 70 yards with compact CC handguns and shooting nice tight groups on paper I am sold !!!!

Ideal #313249 in a .32ACP is plenty for small game.
For a 9mm just use as pointed of a nose as you can make accurate. Maybe use a heavy to keep the velocity down and to have enough impulse to cycle the action.

I wound up using lyman 358345 at 850fps out of a carbine total is 9 squirrels,7 coons, & 13 possums. It works great is real quiet and my squirrels are edible,what more could could I ask for.

What powder charge? My load for the carbine won't cycle the locked breech pistols. With 2.9 gr titegroup and a 124 RN I am still almost 1100 fps in the carbine and I can't drop any smaller charge without switching to a bulkier powder. My pistols don't cycle until 3.5 gr titegroup.

You can eat right up to the bullet hole with the 124 rn at 1075 fps. Even if you hit the shoulder it is not ruined.

I used 2.9gr. w231 out of carbine I got 950fps it is working great.
