    Powder Coating Buck & Slugs

I seen a fellow on youtube powder coating buckshot and slugs , he didn't say if there was a reason for it , does anyone here powder coat there buck and slugs, do you think it would keep leading a shotgun barrel down

    Thanks copdills

did it once just for fun. if you are loading into a shot cup you should not get any leading anyway so its just a purty looking load. might help some in a bp shotgun that does not use shotcups.

    Thumbs up

I powder coated some sabot slugs too, but mostly just did it for a lark. I wondered if they might be visible when in flight and act sort of like a "tracer" slug round? I haven't loaded them yet to test them and find out though ...

I have powder coated .678" round ball's to increase the diameter to .680", this gave me a better fit for my wad combo.

I did some Lee 1oz Keydrive ones. Looks pretty, but not much point n the Sabot.

If you buck and ball load is out of a cup wad, they it would stop some leading.

Every time I look at those nice big flat tops I feel like I should grab a "Sharpie" and put happy faces on them!

Mine were by the "shake and bake" method. I use my old vibratory tumbler with black airsoft BB's and tumble for about 2 minutes then bake in my toaster oven for 20 minutes at 400 degrees. (Takes about 5 minutes to get the boolits up to temperature and 15 minutes to bake.) I was doing a big batch of 200 grain SWC .45 ACP's and tossed in a batch of 12 and 20 gauge Lyman sabot slugs just for a laugh.
