What's the next top $$$ fur

going to be this coming season? Last season was the lowly coyote, and the year be for that was the beaver wasn't it? So does anyone have any speculation as to this coming season?

More than likely. I think that Lynx has pretty much been a top $$$ fur for your area for quite a few decades.

Lynx are top tier predators at their level in the the "circle of life" in the woods. Also they are pretty solitary so you may get just a few in a season unless your trapping line stretches for quite a distance.

^^^ Quit true. I have ran a few 50 to 75 mile lines here in Illinois. Knew of a few guys in Alaska, while I was stationed at King Salmon AFS, that had 100 mile lines with 2 or maybe 3 cabins on the line for stay overs. Harvest maybe 20 to 25 Lynxs a season, sometimes more, sometimes less.

For how it looks to me is coyote will still be up there again .Lynx is like said been high end, but you can not get them over the place like coyote or Bobcat.Beaver is still low from what I know of and coon some say will come up some ,but not much. The things is with the strong dollar there will not be much be able to sell and there can be other things also. It dose not matter to me I trap anyways.

Wow!! hard to tell reading all the forecasts. up down who knows until the new results of sales comes in, same as always. I trap for the fun and hope to make costs it takes to do. Every now and then in the last 50 years I make a little money but taxes takes that away and they will not let you deduct the losses claiming it is not a profession it is a hobby.

Thank you for your response Geezer. You are so spot on about the 'up down results'. I never realized how world events effected fur prices till I started into the fur buying business.

The fur market is as fickle as the women who wear it. If I had to guess on what will make the next big splash I'd say red fox, with the younger professional women. It's flashy, soft and different. It's been awhile since it's last peak. Just a guess on my part.
