Cramer 10-cavity mold...........

Folks,

First of all, I'll try to post a few photos later tonight. I was wondering if someone on the forum is a collector, in that, this particular mold
isn't in the best shape. I'm not even sure its serviceable, yet the sprue cutter and otherwise operated fine. Only the mold cavities look like they've seen better days.

It is era correctly marker "Cramer" and is in a 10-cavity configuration; appears to be .358 caliber round nose with lube grooves.

I'd clean that thing up and try to cast with it...just for the experience of knowing what the arsenal casters went through in the loading/casting rooms of the local sheriffs department range...
Might be heavy enough that a couple of people might have to swap at casting to keep it up at temperature!

Pretty dang cool...at least clean it up and oil it so it won't keep deteriorating...

Funny, I had the identical 10 cavity Cramer wadcutter mould about 20 years ago. I traded it at a gun show for a Lee Enfield No. 5 Jungle Carbine (that has now also gone the way of the Dodo). I do still have two other Cramer moulds left though, a 5 cavity and and 8 cavity. Both are round nose .38 S&W moulds that drop at about 146 grains in about #2 alloy.

All steel and lots of it! (That's the reason I sold my old 10 cavity Cramer wadcutter mould ...) You don't want to cast for long with this 8 cavity or 5 cavity without a mould guide either ...

My mold weighs around 30 pounds, "without the cavities filled with lead".

I want to shake the hand of the man who can hold this hammer after 10-20 casts; he would have to have muscles in his eyebrows.
