    I sure hope so.
I pushing some powder coated TL430-240SWC at 1410fps with 20.0gr of 2400 through my 7 1/2" SBH that have a BHN of 11 and I'm also using them with sabots in a couple of 50cal black powder rifles.

    Yes yours will do fine.
Give us some idea of the bullet and velocity intended.

Here is how mine performed in a dirt pile fired from about 30'.
They probably will punch straight through instead of expanding on deer and most hogs.

With a good meplat, it will work on anything in the woods. Or anywhere else!

Is this personal experience or "theory?"

It is an assumption based on other peoples experiences.
Projectiles with a wide as possible meplat (like Hickok said) are best for this situation. Projectiles with a round nose or semi-wadcutter usually poke a hole that closes up.

Do you already have a boolit and velocity in mind?

Bolded part is NOT true. RN yes, SWC nope. Holes produced by my Keith SWCs do not close up.

Then figure on eating back straps for supper. Took my last muley (4X4) with that same set up, 92-94 yds, can't remember. He can't either, dropped at the shot.

    I can't agree more!
I should have been more specific, I was particularly picking on my Lee SCW.
Keith type and others that have a 70% or more meplat are the most desired for these applications.

    I like that choice!
It is the one likely to replace the Lee I'm casting at the moment.
