St. Thomas Aquinas said that of the seven deadly sins envy was the most grievous.

Maybe its a collection of where wife's said "you aren't putting that thing in my house!"
Oh great, another thread that makes me spend money.

I personally have one piece of taxidermy in my house, a high gold roe buck from back in the day that comes with a story, but a hunting pal of mine just down the road has a house full, including flocks of pheasants and ducks.
I do not envy him or seek to emulate his collection but neither do I decry him for his interest. If I get anything 'interesting' I always offer it to him and sometimes he spends the dough to get it mounted and proudly displays it, without claiming it as his own.
It is him who doesn't understand my attitude in not wanting to get the stuff mounted for my own place but I've never had the urge, simple as that.

I am never impressed by people trying to impress me.

Reminds me of a story I heard one time about a lady who owned two pet monkeys. She thought the world of them and then the time came when they both passed away within hours of each other. She did not want to just bury them so she took them to a well known taxidermist. She removed them from a bag and set them on his counter top. He looked at them and said --I presume you would like to have them mounted? She thought for a moment and then said --Mayby just shaking hands would be fine!

His money, his choice. I'm not one for trophies myself but he has amassed a heck of a collection there.

As a carpenter who built a few nice , but much smaller, displays I can tell you that my kids really appreciated the food and housing that the money brought in.
