    PPU brass 6.5 x55 ?

What's your opinion/experiences with PPU brass in 6.5 Swedish ? I need brass and was actually thinking of buying and shooting the PPU loaded ammo 139gr , SP & FMJ enjoy the jacketed and save the brass....I handload those bullets and the ammo isn't much more than the brass... I've had good success with PPU brass in 7.62x54R So , how's 6.5x55 brass quality ?

I use various calibers of PPU ammunition and brass. By the way, PPU also sells empty brass. Some of the reloading outlets have it, and Grafs has it and I believe Midway as well.

PPU Brass is much better than Hornady brass in 6.5x55.

I am using PPU brass exclusively for 22-250 Rem and .243 Win with warm loads and I like it. Monarch brand ammo with brass cases from Academy is also PPU- good ammo good price.

My experience has been positive as well. Use it in 6.5 for a bolt and a ljungman. The ljungman isn't exactly easy on brass and I've never had problems with it.
I do keep it separate from the bolt brass.

I won't touch the stuff. I've tried using both 6.5 Grendel and 7.62x54R PPU brass with dismal results. Primer pockets too deep on the Russians and too loose on the Grendels. Pure ****.

and if you get a primer to stay in the Grendel the neck will split in 3 to 4 loading .. even tried to anneal them ..Not worth the trouble

Use Privi ammo in 8 chamberings. Works great. Perhaps the best heavy bullet 7mm RemMag ammo made.

Have 100 rounds of the 7.62x54R loaded 10 times, shot in a good Mosin, NEVER FL sized ZERO prolems.

As for the 6.5 Grendel it has been recalled.

"Recently, Prvi Partizan (aka PPU) announced a complete recall of 6.5 Grendel ammunition and brass that it made. Typically, when a company recalls ammunition, it is limited to a specific lot number or load. In this case, the recall is for “ALL 6.5 Grendel ammunition” (emphasis theirs) and brass.

The announcement includes the two loads the company currently makes: a 110 gr FMJBT and a 120 gr HPBT.

According to the company, the recall is “Because of different chamber sizes in certain rifles” that could cause “excessive chamber pressure.” I find it curious that instead of issuing a warning that the ammunition should not be fired in a 6.5 Grendel rifle from Brand X, the company instead undertakes what will likely be an expensive recall.

Also curious is that the company states “If you have any 6.5 Grendel ammunition or brass manufactured by PPU…” you should contact the company to “…arrange for its return and replacement.” (again – emphasis theirs) This could suggest a metallurgical problem with the brass.

While I have seen some people say that they “heard” PPU was getting out of making 6.5 Grendel ammunition, the company still lists the loads on its website. Also, with the recent TFB article reporting on the Serbian Special Brigade move to the 6.5 Grendel with PPU being the ammo supplier, it seems unlikely that the company would cease 6.5 production."
