    WTH is a "blog" ?
    is it a contraction of some phrase ?

    Blogs are usually (but not always) written by one person and are updated pretty regularly. Blogs are often (but not always) written on a particular topic - there are blogs on virtually any topic you can think of.

    A blog is almost like an online journal or soap box. they can be as formal or informal as a person likes. you'll find the authors often get very attached to their blogs, and those that comment, forming subsets of 'blogging communities'. Not unlike a web forum like we have here.
